Detailed material analyses at the Bremen Technical Center

For plastic manufacturers and compounders, continuous quality control is crucial to ensure high-quality pellets without impurities. At its headquarters, SIKORA has set up its own innovative testing and laboratory environment, the Bremen Technical Center, which is equipped with the latest inspection, sorting and laboratory testing systems. Here you have the opportunity to have your materials inspected for contamination quickly and free of charge.

First-class test conditions at the Bremen Technical Center
Two PURITY SCANNER ADVANCED devices are available for inspection and sorting, which can be used to test all types of pellets, from sophisticated XLPE or recycled PP material to fluoropolymers and various amorphous materials. Using X-ray and optical cameras, the systems detect both metallic and the smallest visual defects and sort out impurities. One of the systems was only put into operation in April 2025. This is a PURITY SCANNER ADVANCED of the latest generation, which is equipped with a 50 KV X-ray camera in combination with a high-resolution optical 3-camera solution and incorporates the latest development standards.

Two laboratory testing devices are also available for offline quality control, which can be used for process control, offline sample analysis or incoming goods inspection, depending on the application. The PURITY CONCEPT V detects optical impurities such as black specks, color contamination and discoloration on the test material. Metallic contamination in the material, on the other hand, is detected with the PURITY CONCEPT X. The test material (pellets, flakes or test plates) is distributed on the sample tray for analysis and moved through the inspection area. There it is examined within a few seconds with a color camera (PURITY CONCEPT V) or X-ray camera (PURITY CONCEPT X). The integrated analysis software automatically detects, visualizes and evaluates contaminants from a size of 50 µm. The contaminated material is marked on the sample tray with a projector and highlighted in the camera image. This separation makes it easier to take samples and enables further investigations, e.g. as part of research into the causes of contamination.

Rely on our know-how
Are you looking for a suitable inspection, sorting and/or analysis system for your manufacturing process and need support in making a decision? With our technical capabilities and the know-how resulting from more than 3,000 material tests performed, SIKORA is a reliable partner when it comes to analyzing your materials.

Contact our sales team at sales@sikora.net or by telephone on +49 421 48 900 0. Our colleagues will then get in touch with you to discuss all the details.

This is how the material tests work
In the run-up to the tests, we take sufficient time for your request and discuss your quality requirements in detail, for which application the quality control is to be established, which questions you are pursuing, what the conditions and production environment are like on site, etc., in order to get an overall picture of your requirements. You then send us the discussed material samples with which the tests are carried out in the Bremen technical center.

As part of the tests, we carry out a customer and application-specific material analysis for you, which serves as a basis for your subsequent decision-making process for a system. You will receive the results in a comprehensive online test report. This includes a detailed description of the tests carried out, a large number of images of detected contamination from the software used to analyze the materials. Furthermore, the test report describes all the test results and provides specific answers to your pre-defined questions.

How do our analyses differ from standard material tests?

Your requirements for the online inspection and sorting system change depending on the priority selected. This makes it all the more important to define the question before the tests are carried out.

That’s why we don’t just test “whether” the SIKORA systems can detect your material samples, we listen carefully to what you really need for your production:

  • High throughput?
  • Desired detection rate?
  • From which contamination size should be separated?
  • How high can the by-catch be?

This enables us to give you well-founded feedback. You receive clear and unambiguous test results that you can rely on.
