Innovative technologies for quality control during cable extrusion

At Wireshow in Shanghai (September 3 – 5, 2019), SIKORA, a leading manufacturer and supplier of online measuring, control, inspection, analyzing and sorting technologies presents its innovative products for the wire, cable, optical fiber and plastics industries. Worldwide, users of SIKORA technology benefit from an increasing quality, process optimization and efficiency of the manufacturing process.

At its booth N1A49, SIKORA will show state-of-the-art Laser and X-ray technologies for precise and reliable measurement of product parameters such as diameter, ovality, wall thickness and concentricity. Other highlights will be spark testers for the detection of insulation faults, lump detectors for the detection of faults on the product surface, as well as devices for reliable conductor preheating as well as temperature measurement and control. Systems for online and offline inspection, sorting and analysis will round off the SIKORA presence in Shanghai.

The newly launched X-RAY 8000 ADVANCED will be a highlight at the SIKORA booth. With the X-ray based system, SIKORA introduces state-of-the-art High-Speed- Technology (HST) that is tailored to the demands of MV, HV and EHV cable production. It represents an advanced alternative to the successful and established X-RAY 8000 NXT. The system is equipped with 16 measuring sensors and measures the diameter, wall thickness and eccentricity of cables in CV lines up to 10 times faster than the X-RAY 8000 NXT, and thus, is predestined for an even more efficient control and information transparency in terms of Industry 4.0.

The system, to be shown for the first time at Wireshow, is an automated off-line inspection and analysis system, based on X-ray technology. The PURITY CONCEPT X detects and analyzes e.g. metallic contamination in plastic pellets, used for the insulation of MV, HV and EHV cables.
